There was always a special spark between them and they built a solid friendship through high school, both sharing a love of competitive volleyball. Afterwards, academic and travel aspirations led them on different paths. Many years passed and their friendship resurfaced, bearing witness then to each other’s adult lives, now as parents to 3 beautiful daughters. A long distance romance blossomed — a journey both short and long, near and far, smooth and rough. Ultimately the universe designed a way back for Leah and Jaimie to join their lives. The incredible depth of their emotional connection has had a meaningful impact on their blended family. The eldest, Haven, spoke at their wedding and shared these words. The bride: “I was told that true love was something for fairytales, and that it was impossible to care for someone so dearly that your soul intertwined with theirs. Despite this, I held out hope, choosing to believe that love was more than just a concept. I finally knew I was right when my Dad told me the story of him and Leah, and I saw the way his eyes lit up. When I finally saw them together I noticed the way they looked at each other, as though every time their eyes met they saw the other as if they were 14 again. This is what showed me just how bright, real and pure love can be. I watch how my Dad smiles every time Leah does. How she seems to relax every time he’s in the room. They fill up the space around them so easily, not wasting a second, as if every moment they spend together is a moment making up for the time they lost as kids.
